Day 2 - Cairns to Mt Carbine (via Kuranda)
Leaving Cairns city we head up the scenic Kuranda range to the historic tourist village of Kuranda for a quick coffee, all bitumen so far. The spectacular views over Cairns and out to the reef are just a sample of the week ahead. On to the Black Mountain road and a quality gravel road complete with udulations, some easy single track and loads of varying countryside.Into the Mt Molloy hotel for some refreshments before the last 25k of easy bitumen into Mt Carbine, a true outback hotel camp for the night.
Day 3 - Daintree & Cape Tribulation
A truly epic day beginning with a nasty climb out of Carbine before winding our way down to the world famous Daintree river. Likely a dip somewhere in the safe waters before we cross the croc infested river twice, first at the township of Daintree, and then across the ferry and on to Cape Tribulation. A long day, but a very rewarding one. Our home tonight is PK’s jungle lodge close to the beach and it’s famous reef.
Day 4 - Bloomfield River & The Lion's Den
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better. This ride has it all (again!). Steep climbs, fun descents, creek crossings (and drink stops), tidal river crossings, you name it – you will see it today. Enough said. We roll into the historic Lions Den hotel for (another) well deserved drink and camp again by the stars and the river.
Day 5 - Cooktown
The final 35k sprint to Cooktown. Mostly bitumen today with the final uphill on gravel to the lookout above this historic town and it’s views across the Endeavour river and Cape York Peninsula. We hose down the bikes, and shower up in readiness for our bus journey back to Cairns. Stories are sure to flow after a memorable 5 days of biking through World Heritage rainforest and countryside you will never forget. Free night in Cairns to enjoy.
Day 6 - The Cairns Amateurs
Horse day ! What’s that you say ? Yes, we are off the bikes and off to the races. The legendary Cairns Amateurs race day. A morning stroll along the Esplanade, dip in the city lagoon, hearty breakfast and its race time. You will really have to join us to see just what this day entails, but rest assured, laughter and shenanigans will be the rule of the day. http://www.cairnsamateurs.org.au/
Day 7 - Departure Day
No activities planned. Transfer to the airport for those leaving Cairns.
